Happy New Year to all! We would like to take this opportunity to share with you the gifts we were able to present with the extra income you all provided us from the 2007 race...
This year’s race brought in a net profit of $1000, which was split 50/50 between the Jaragoske family, and the other $500 will be used to start a scholarship for the SDSU Track and Field/Cross Country teams. Six members of the Jaragoske family were victims of a house fire over the holidays. The fire caused considerable damage to the house, but is still livable. The $500 went towards paying rent for the family’s temporary lodging while their home is being repaired.
The SDSU scholarship will be named the Prairie Striders Scholarship, which is the local running club in Brookings under which the Run for Beef and Eggs is organized. The Prairie Striders Running Club was developed to promote jogging and distance running for fun, fitness, and fellowship in the Brookings Community. The $500 will be used to start the endowment scholarship, which shall continuously provide qualified student-athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest level of competition the NCAA has to offer. Thanks to all our participants and supporters who made this possible! We hope to see you in 2008!
